Features of the Investments

d.o.b foundation invests in social ventures with a high degree of risk in areas in which regular financers are not yet active or in which there is still no formal finance market.

1. Projects in Africa meet the following criteria:

• impact on 500,000 people in 5 years, based on scaling up;
• development of a replicable business model;
• a financial result that guarantees continuity.

For projects in the Netherlands there has to be a "radical shift" in thinking and acting.

2. There is an extremely capable, enterprising "owner" (in terms of money or inspiration) present, or one can soon be found, who bears final responsibility and is personally and directly involved.

3. It is innovative and enterprising.

4. Integral sustainability approach: i.e. attention given to financial, social and ecological aspects.

5. There is a multi-stakeholder approach.

What services do we provide to our target groups?

1. Financial support: social venture capital - i.e. for each phase a tailor-made combination of:

• loans;
• share capital;
• possible donations: when donations are needed to launch a project or to support it institutionally.

NB: we are willing to invest in local currencies and overhead costs as they often form a bottleneck.

2. Non-financial support:

• co-designing the initiative;
• management: strategic; organizational (structure; composition of management teams); financial/administrative;
• technical expertise and expertise with respect to content;
• matchmaking: finding suitable financial (fundraising), commercial, content-related and operational partners within the network.

3. Platform Function:

Through De Nijensteen farm, d.o.b foundation offers a stimulating, inspiring and open venue where - around the current initiatives - people, ideas and organizations can be brought together;
Organizational support for events and gatherings. We can also make a contribution to the structure of the gathering, thus strengthening the content and achieving the goals more quickly.

NB: we do not accept funding requests and do not respond to unsolicited project proposals.
