This film, shot in 2002 during the World Cup Final between Brazil and Germany, tells the story of another remarkable football game. While the world's top football players measure themselves in Japan, in Thimptu, Bhutan the two lowest FIFA-ranked teams Bhutan and Montserrat (N0202 and 203) meet for a game.
Even though it has no news value anymore, the film still moves the viewer. Meeting some of the players and seeing their own and the spectator's hope and dreams, watching the game, as well as listening to the compassionate live commentary by the Bhutan Broadcasting Service is heart warming.
While the sponsors were all found in Japan and no-one was tempted to sponsor "The Other Final", this event finally received lots of media attention. Visit the site where you can read more info and order the DVD.
From the DVD-cover: "The film uses football as a device to explore the contrasting cultures of the teams and shows how football can be a global language uniting people. ... This project is a non-profit KesselsKramer- initiative, directed by Johan Kramer. After watching the film, please go out and kick a ball with a stranger!"
