d.o.b foundation invests in and supports social entrepreneurs who identify commercial opportunities in social issues. We strive for a structural improvement of the wellbeing of people who are marginalized or living in poverty.
Our geographic focus is Africa. By encouraging social and economic development, new possibilities are created for these people to take control of their lives. This bolsters their dignity and gives them the strength and means to build a good life for themselves.
We also stimulate several initiatives in the Netherlands that have the potential to bring about a breakthrough in the thinking on development opportunities for people. The objective of this effort is to replace systems that limit people with systems that motivate them - something that could lead to a life of independence for many people.
Through the initiatives we invest in, we endeavour to have the greatest possible, quantifiable social impact.
d.o.b foundation believes in the strengths and talents of all people the world over, irrespective of their background, political convictions, skin colour or religion. In the future we envisage, all people in the world are given the chance to lead independent lives - lives that have dignity. This is our mission.
We work from the conviction that only by working with all stakeholders can we bring about (far-reaching) systemic change. Local partners and the target group, government, NGOs and the business sector will all have to enter discussions with one another and work together.
We envisage a world in which we can learn from each other and invest in each other. A world in which long-term thinking is the norm. A world in which products and services with financial, social and ecological value for the poorest of the poor are affordable and accessible. Through market forces and creative, social business models, an efficient and successful contribution will be made to people's standard of living and their local economies. It is a world in which everyone participates and benefits from the global economy.
If we are successful, our organization and the development sector will become obsolete in the end. People will only need support for the processes of democratisation and emergency assistance.
